Mission Statement

This program has been established to recognize those members who give freely of their time and knowledge to further the careers of their fellow member colleagues.

Purpose

It is the intent of to encourage participation within the organization by rewarding leadership, volunteer efforts, participation in photographic print competition, educational accomplishments and instructional efforts.

APPI Degrees

The APPI Degree Program will consist of four different levels:
Associate Fellow Degree: Awarded to any eligible member for accumulating 50 Points for service to the Association
Fellowship Degree: Awarded for a continuation of service. The Fellowship Degree is earned by accumulating 75 points and is awarded after the Associate Fellow Degree.
Honorary Fellowship Degree: Awarded to those who, by Board action, are deemed to have given sufficient service.
Continuing Fellowship Awards: Additional Degrees will be awarded for each 25 points accumulated after being awarded a Fellowship Degree in recognition of continued service to the organization.

Eligibility

  1. All active, life and associate, paid up members in good standing with the APPI are eligible.
  2. Eligible status is required when points are earned and when degree is awarded.
  3. Points must be recorded and verified by committee heads as they are earned - No awarding of retroactive points
  4. Lapse of membership causes loss of ALL previously earned points. Lapse of membership is defined as not rejoining APPI by the last day of convention following the December 31st expiration date of membership.

Rules

These are the official and complete rules of the program and are to be followed to the letter.
  1. Any points in question/dispute will be disallowed.
  2. All decisions on points/degrees by the Degree Committee or APPI Board are final.
  3. Members must enroll in the Program and have their Program Guide Book before any points can be earned.
  4. Record keeping is the responsibility of any member who wishes to earn an APPI Degree.
  5. Each service point MUST be verified and initialed in the program book by the committee head and/or Board Member only.
  6. Each member enrolled MUST send their book to the Degree Committee Head each year by December 15th so that records can be updated by January 15th. NO EXCEPTIONS.
  7. Members eligible to submit degree application MUST do so by December 31st.
    1. Final vote at January board meeting.
    2. Members MUST have paid dues for year they wish to be awarded degree before application is reviewed.
  8. The points accumulated used for the Associate Degree may be added upon for the Fellowship Degree.
  9. Members can only receive one degree per year.
  10. Lapse of membership causes loss of all accumulated points.
    1. Lapse is defined as not rejoining APPI by the last day of convention following the December 31st expiration date of membership.
    2. Lapse of membership does not cause the loss of previously awarded/earned degrees

    1. State President -- 5 / year

    3. State Treasurer -- 3 / year
    4. State Secretary -- 3 /year
    5. Membership Chairperson -- 2 / year
    6. Directors -- 2 /year
    7. Print Chairperson -- 2 /year
  2. Conference Related
    1. Speaker/ Demonstrator at State Conference -- 2 (only if No further compensation)
    2. Conference Hospitality -- 2
  3. Committees Service points
    1. Service points (maximum 6 per year at discretion of committee head) -- 6/year
    2. Committee Chairperson (for non-convention related service) -- 2
    3. Committee Member (for non-convention related service) -- 1
    4. Additional Committee Membership each consecutive year -- 1
    5. Volunteering at fall or spring Conventions (max. 8 per convention) -- 1 per 2 hours time
  4. General
    1. Newsletter Editor ( per year ) -- 3
    2. Communications Chairperson (per year) -- 3
    3. Degree or CPP Program Chairperson (per year) -- 2
    4. Web Master (per year) -- 2
    5. State Librarian (per year) -- 2

    1. National Councilor (or Proxy) (must attend the National Business Meeting) -- 1/year
    2. PPA Certified -- 2
    3. Renewal of PPA Certified status -- 1
    4. Master of Photography, Master of Electronic Imaging or Craftsman Photographer (one time only) -- 2
    5. Attending PPA Affiliate Leadership Training at National Convention -- 1
    6. Attending PPA National Convention -- 1
    7. Becoming an Affiliate Judge -- 2
  6. Print Credits and Awards (max. 8 points per competition)
    1. Entering into Print Competition -- 1 per entry
    2. Score of 80+ -- 1 per entry
  7. Education
    1. Instructor for PPA Super Monday Class within Illinois (max. 4 points per year) -- 2
    2. Host studio for a PPA approved Continuing Education class/ Super Monday(no additional compensation) -- 1
