To put into words what I have gained from APPI would take a book. Since joining in 1973, I have learned from and rubbed shoulders with the giants in our industry, members from within our state, as well as world class speakers at our conventions. Without APPI, my world of photography would be very small.
    Bob Lloyd, APPI President 1987

As a second generation Master-Photographer, with two thriving studios, the benefits of APPI were no secret to me. The convention/educational programming and the print competition were obvious pluses...but it's the interaction with other professionals that changed the question from why, to when.

If it wasn't for APPI, I wouldn't be the photographer I am today...and the reason I'm still an active member is because...I'm not near the photographer I want to be.

If you want to be a better photographer and a better business person...JOIN APPI TODAY. It's a no-brainer.
    Kurt M. Wade - APPI President 1997

"You really should join APP of Illinois, it's a great learning experience." That is what was suggested to me by an established photographer when I began my photographic career. I joined APPI that very year, 1985. It gave me the opportunity to associate and make friends with photographers from all over the country. Real professional photographers will share their knowledge. Why? Because what we new people do will reflect upon the established photographer.

I cannot imagine being a professional photographer and not belonging to an association like APP of Illinois. The friendships and networking are great assets to my future as a Professional Photographer.
    Lin Blackwell-Prabish

I originally started coming to APPI conventions and seminars only because I wanted to be with my husband, Tom. I didn't know anything about photography other than what I learned from him. When asked to be an active member of the print committee in 1981, Tom gladly volunteered us both. It was the best thing that ever happened to me. I learned so much over the many years working on this committee, as well as attending many seminars and convention programs, that I now am a photographer in my own right. The friendships I have made and the knowledge shared by all my fellow APPI members has helped enrich my life both photographically and socially. Without APPI my life would be very different. I hope to be a lifelong member of the print committee. Being involved isn't a requirement of being a member of APPI, but it sure is a benefit!
Mary Pierson - Executive Secretary 1988-1997
